Tackling water scarcity, mental health, and oral wellness

Water Scarcity

Water scarcity is no longer a distant threat it is a present global emergency. Millions of communities lack reliable access to clean water, driving disease, displacement, and instability. BHA supports research and innovation to restore water systems and secure safe water where traditional infrastructure fails.

Mental Health

Mental health is the fastest-growing and least-supported global health crisis. Depression and anxiety affect hundreds of millions, yet early detection and access to care remain limited. BHA advances research and technology to improve monitoring, resilience, and long-term mental well-being.

Oral Health

Oral disease is one of the most widespread and preventable health burdens worldwide. Untreated conditions cause chronic pain and contribute to serious systemic diseases. BHA promotes research, education, and access to care to protect oral health as a foundation of overall well-being.

Water Scarcity, A Global Emergency

The United Nations warns the world is approaching “water bankruptcy” a point where demand permanently exceeds available supply. More than 2 billion people still lack safely managed drinking water, and every two minutes a child dies from water-related disease. Climate change, over-extraction, and failing infrastructure are draining freshwater systems faster than they can recover. Without urgent investment in breakthrough water solutions, shortages will accelerate displacement, conflict, and economic collapse.

Mental Health, The Rising Global Crisis

More than 1 in 8 people worldwide live with a mental health condition, while most receive little or no care. Depression and anxiety are among the leading drivers of disability, and suicide continues to claim hundreds of thousands of lives each year, especially where services are weakest. When mental health breaks down, learning, work, relationships, and physical health all decline. This crisis is expanding faster than current systems can respond.

Oral Health, A Hidden Epidemic

Oral disease affects nearly half the world, over 3.5 billion people, yet it remains widely untreated and underestimated. Cavities, gum disease, and tooth loss aren’t just local problems: chronic oral infection and inflammation are linked to heart disease, diabetes, pregnancy complications, and systemic illness. The burden falls hardest on low-resource communities, driving pain, missed school, lost work, and preventable disease. This is a global health crisis hiding in plain sight.

Why We Work on All Three

Water, oral health, and mental health are not separate problems.
They are the foundation, the gateway, and the control center of the same human system.

Water is the foundation: it determines survival, public health, stability, and security.
The mouth is the gateway: where preventable disease enters and spreads through the body.
The mind is the control center: governing resilience, decision-making, & the ability to recover.

BHA funds advanced R&D using AI, quantum science, & biotechnology to detect earlier, scale faster, & deliver solutions where traditional systems fall short.

Support BHA to protect life at its source: water, body, and mind.
Ignoring any one of these dangers the whole.
